New NYC Apartment: Gallery Wall

Welcome to my new NYC apartment.

If you've been following me on my Instagram (here) and listened to my latest podcast episodes (here), then you probably know that I moved recently to another apartment on the Upper East Side.

My lease ended at the end of August and for the past three months, I contemplated whether I would stay in NYC, stay in the area, or move to a different neighborhood. After apartment searching for a month, I finally found my new home. More to come on my apartment story in another apartment tour post.

There’s nothing I love more than a fresh new start. After spending three years in my previous UES apartment, I knew it was time to retire my old gallery wall I kept up with since college.

A new location meant a new gallery wall with new art that really depicted my NYC journey right now. I’m grateful to be partnering with Desenio, who helped me bring my newly updated gallery wall to life.

The theme I was going for was more modern. I strayed away from too much color and chose abstract art to really balance the NYC art. It was difficult picking out the prints for my gallery wall because Desenio has hundreds and hundreds of selections to choose from on their website. From vintage to photography to black and white to fashion, Desenio has a ton of categories you can peruse through.

For a few pieces, I selected Desenio’s picture frames while picking out the art prints. It’s a seamless process on their website — you simply pick out the size frame you want to coordinate with your prints and posters before adding it to the cart. Not to mention, the quality of their picture frames is phenomenal. I’m used to the flimsy and cheaply made frames that break when shipped to your doorstep, but these picture frames did not disappoint.

Typically, when building a gallery wall, you want to have a theme. After you figure out your theme, you need to figure out the sizing of the wall and the size of the art prints and posters you want. At first, I wasn’t sure if I wanted small or large prints on the wall and was in need of some inspiration. What was helpful was that Desenio offers gallery wall inspo on their website (here) and even gallery wall templates, including full measurements for small and large walls to help you begin.

This New York City print definitely caught my eye. There’s nothing more iconic about New York City than a Times Square shot.
