5 Things I Did This Week Consistently

IMG_5420.JPG

This quarantine experience has been full of trials and errors.

I've gone through days of feeling unmotivated, to days of feeling determined, to days of feeling hopeless to hopeful.

However, something that has been consistent through and through is this very mantra: take it one day at a time.

Here's a look at 5 things I did this week that have been consistent.

1. Consistently drank lemon water upon waking up.

This and devotion time was my morning routine in my NYC apartment.

I drink hot lemon water with a little honey on an empty stomach. Not only is this cleansing, but this routine helps alleviate the sadness of not being in New York City at the moment. It helps to continue my normal, usual routine here at my family home in North Carolina.

Sidenote:

Here are a few benefits of drinking lemon water in the morning on an empty stomach.

- it helps maintain the pH balance of your body

- it protects the body from immune system deficiencies

- it acts as a detoxifying agent

- it helps fight infections

- lemons are a rich source of potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, etc.

- it helps digestion and increases metabolic rate

- it helps clear your skin

- it cleanses the liver by flushing out toxins

- it provides electrolytes to the body

- it helps reduce join and muscle pain

- it's good for your dental heath and prevents gingivitis

- it helps with digestion and helps regulate natural bowel movement

2. Signed up and tuned into a couple of webinars.

I've been participating in more webinars lately, and it's been really refreshing. It's important to continue educating and informing ourselves with what's going on with current events, learning new skillsets, and diving deeper into how the social media marketing world is changing during this pandemic and what's to come of it. A few webinars I've been tuning into include: the COVID-19 loans: CARES Act and Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans through Fohr (here), marketing strategy for brands and influencers on HubSpot (here), TikTok strategy for influencers on RewardStyle (here -- summary sheet here) and Statusphere.

3. Did yoga every day this week.

The last time I tried yoga was in college.

Years ago.

After experiencing a stabbing pain in my abdomen and chest from running, I've been trying to figure out where it's been coming from. Throughout the process, I realized that my muscles have been cramping up every time I run and stretching has been rather painful than calming. I challenged myself to try yoga every day this week when I wake up, and I've noticed it has improved my mood. I find myself in a much calmer state of mind. The abdominal pain hasn't gone away, but I'm hoping I'll find the cause of it soon.

4. Spent at least an hour a day with my little kittens.

When I first brought home my adopted kittens, my schedule was all over the place.

I wasn't able to focus, I was constantly distracted, and I was spending more time with them and getting frustrated at the end of the day when things weren't accomplished.

However, this week, I wanted to spend quality time with Pepper and Luna, and still get things done. I found that spending quality time with Pepper and Luna every time I need a break has put me in a better mood. They love to cuddle, they love to play, and constantly seek attention. I'm still learning to be a cat mom, but it's been a fun journey so far.

Highly recommend adopting a pet during quarantine. You won't regret it.

5. Edited the next podcast season a little each day.

Something I've been trying to get better at is editing my next podcast season. I've recorded and edited two episodes so far into On The Grow Season 5, but for some reason, I've felt super unmotivated to continue. I've spent days asking myself why I have been feeling this way, and have found it best not to push it.

What's meant to be will be.

And maybe there is a reason I have felt distant from the podcast and it'll eventually reveal itself. Or maybe not, and I'll learn something from it either way.

Sorry for the delay. I can't wait for you to hear what's next.

What are 5 things you've done this week?

I'd love to hear them!
