Kimpton Mason & Rook Hotel Recap

For Memorial Day Weekend, I had the pleasure of staying with Kimpton Mason & Rook Hotel located in Downtown D.C.

My stay was one for the books.
With the warm hospitality from the front desk, an inviting stay at the premier spa suite, complimentary wine hour from 5-6 PM, to a dinner invite to the Radiator DC restaurant located within the hotel, the Mason & Rook Hotel is one worth checking out on your next visit to D.C.

I recommend staying here for that "downtown" D.C. experience. Even though I've visited D.C. several times, I personally haven't explored the downtown area, which is actually the best part. One of the main reasons I loved the location was because of its close proximity to everything.
If you're taking the train in, it's 10 minutes from Union Station.
If you're flying in, it's 15 minutes from Reagan National Airport and 45 minutes from Washington Dulles International Airport.

The transportation is unbeatable, that's for sure. On one of the days when we were exploring the area, we were able to walk a block over for Shake Shack. There's even a Whole Foods nearby, as well as a ton of restaurant options on 14th Street. As for sightseeing, The White House, National Mall, Studio Theater, and the Walter E. Washington Convention Center are all walking distance.

Scroll below for the photos of my suite, living room, dining experience at the hotel, and more.

PREMIER SPA SUITE HOTEL ROOM

The moment I walked into the suite, I had no words.
The place itself was like a small apartment. The Premier Spa Suites include a living room with a half-bath, an office desk, a gallery wall, a spacious bedroom with large windows, a beautiful spa bathroom with a walk-in, glass stall shower, marble counters, and a bathtub overlooking the view of the streets below.

There's even a fully-stocked mini bar, an iron and full-sized board, in-room safe, and two giant 65-inch flatscreen TVs in the living room and bedroom.

LIVING ROOM:

The living room features a beautiful bookcase with couches, fruit-infused water, chess set, and playing card art on the wall. It's a great socializing area and hangout spot any time of the day. This is also where you can find complimentary coffee and tea in the mornings, and wine hour from 5-6 PM.

 ROOFTOP:

The Rooftop treats guests to a swimming pool with loungers, tables and chairs overlooking the D.C. skyline. There's also a rooftop bar by the pool, where guests can order drinks, light bites, and enjoy the beautiful view.

I wasn't able to enjoy it because of the rainy / gloomy weather we were experiencing that weekend, but the view really is stunning. I would recommend coming up here this summer!

RADIATOR DC:

On our last night, we had the pleasure of dining at Radiator DC, which is a cocktail bar / cuisine.
Did you know that Radiator is named for 14 Street's rich automotive past? You can see the history within the design of the restaurant. The space features industrial accents, rich woods, communal tables, and supple leather. There's even an outdoor patio with an open-air fire pit where you can dine at, when the weather gets warmer.

We both loved the beet salad and the spicy tuna.
The bottom of the beet salad is actually sunflower seed puree, which was actually an interesting and delicious combination mixed with the spring radish and beets.
Definitely order the spicy tuna. SO delicious.

For our main dishes, we ordered the charred eggplant that had marinated chickpeas, cucumber rita, and pita bread on top. It was an interesting concept to place the pita bread on top, but the eggplant was delicious. Definitely worth ordering again.

The other order was cauliflower chilaquiles, which had pepitas, tortilla, and cashew crema. Apparently, this dish was delicious, but very salty.

We decided to walk around the National Mall, and check out the Monuments along the way.

I hope you enjoyed today's Mason & Rook Hotel recap and my Radiator DC dining experience!
Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hope you all have a great weekend!
