Downtown Asheville Travel Guide

I’ve been to Asheville plenty of times to visit the Blue Ridge Parkway, but this was my first time visiting downtown Asheville.

My thoughts — definitely didn’t fit in (all black outfit) in a more relaxing and chill vibe, reminded me of a mix of Raleigh and Durham, and overall a quiet and quaint place to walk around and explore. Though, it was nice to step back and surround myself in a different city with a different environment. It truly helps me appreciate the destinations more.

Even though I didn’t spend too much time here, we did stop by a few places for dinner and dessert. And had to stop by the Double Decker Coffee Bus along the way. Scroll down for more:

PLACES TO VISIT:

  • Red Ginger — this place was voted “The Best Chinese Restaurant” in Asheville 6 years in a row. My sister had ate here with her friends previously, so we went here for our dinner spot. We ordered dim sum and tapas for the table. My favorite was the Chinese Chive Dumplings, which were steamed shrimp and chive wrapped in rice skin. We also ordered the Crystal Shrimp Dumplings, Dan Dan Noodles (a good choice), Shu Mai, Scallion Pancake, and Yau Choy (also another good choice).

  • Double D’s Coffee and Desserts — we didn’t actually try any of the food or drinks here, but I had to stop by and see all the cute Halloween decor. There is a sign that reads — CASH ONLY, so make sure to have cash when you stop by!

  • There’s a ton of art galleries to stop by while walking around

  • Also a lot of craft breweries

  • French Broad Chocolate Lounge — tons of hand-crafted, organic chocolates and pastries

I’m not entirely sure where this cute home decor store / boutique was and I wasn’t able to find it on the boutique list in downtown Asheville, but it had a ton of cute home decor, candles, jewelry, pots, etc.

I hope this travel guide was helpful! Please let me know if you have any questions :)
